Pour la première fois, Michael Wookey s’est entouré de musiciens pour mettre en musique un de ses albums. Bien lui en a pris : Submarine Dreams, enregistré avec Les Hiddentracks et qui sort en vinyle aujourd’hui sur MonsterK7 (en coproduction avec le chouette label toulousain What A Mess! Records), rend honneur comme jamais aux mélodies du plus british des artistes du label. Les prises de son live retranscrivent parfaitement toute l’énergie de ce showman. Et les cuivres, le violon, la contrebasse et la batterie des Hiddentracks apportent encore un supplément de magie à ces nouvelles compositions. Bref, osons le dire, c’est à ce jour notre album préféré de cet arrangeur hors pair ! L’album est en écoute intégrale sur notre site, sur Deezer et sur Spotify. On lui a créé un écrin à la hauteur de l’enthousiasme dont on a été saisi en découvrant l’album : un vinyle accompagné de 13 cartes postales illustrées par Gabriela Friðriksdóttir, collaboratrice de longue date de Björk. For the first time, Michael Wookey has teamed up with other musicians to work on one of his albums. And he was very right to do so: Submarine Dreams, which was recorded with The Hiddentracks and is released today on MonsterK7 (in coproduction with the very cool label What A Mess! Records), is paying a great tribute to the melodies of the most british of MonsterK7’s artists. The live recording sessions have perfectly captured the energy of this showman. And the brass, the violon, the double bass and the percussion breath some magic in to these new songs. In short, this is our favorite album from Michael Wookey to date!
